The Opportunity:
The Vendor Manager is responsible for overseeing and the performance management of multiple claims vendors within the claims department. Having a strong working knowledge of the appraisal guidelines, you will also be responsible for leading the Appraisals team, you are accountable for ensuring the Appraisal team is working with accuracy and timeliness on reviewed estimates. Establishing and maintaining key relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, this role will perform the active management of vendors, including independent adjusters, legal, rental, auto body and contractors amongst other key member experience vendors as well as our internal appraisal team members. The Vendor Management program includes actioning key supervision of controlling cost, reducing cycle time, audit, mitigating risk, and enhancing member experience within our territory. Enabling key partnerships with vendors to develop and advance our key programs, such as Express Care, Catastrophic Loss deployment building procedures that enable an ease of doing business with our members and employees. The incumbent will have responsibility for the oversight of vendors and related expense reduction initiatives and the supported management reporting. The Vendor Manager will ensure that all aspects of legal and contractual obligations are sufficiently managed.

- Significant breadth of industry contacts including, but not limited to, other Ontario farm mutuals and professional associations to support competitive intelligence
- Established working relationships with relevant supporting vendor and expert networks
How you will create an impact:
- Research and develop process improvements in dedication to continuous improvement
- Acts as coordinator for ensuring appropriate resources are utilized in the effective resolution of claims
- Reviews claims queries and complaints and takes appropriate action where necessary
- Ability to make onsite decisions when presented with a set of facts or circumstances
- Consistently displays significant integrity approach to all aspects of analysis and contractual discussions with existing and prospective vendors
The expectation for this role is that the incumbent has attained the relevant technical knowledge and relationship management expertise that is deemed expert in their respective area of claims management. In addition, but not limited to, job knowledge will include the following:
- Strong knowledge of claims related issues and ability to provide appropriate guidance and assistance on these claims.
- Performs and leads quality assurance audits and provides reporting on team performance, identifying areas for maintenance and improvement, developing corrective measures where necessary Provides guidance and coaching in estimate review strategies for appraisal team when required
- Leads sustainable employee engagement index scores through effective communication, recognition, and authentic leadership
- Specialist in member value chains, building vendor process to exceed member experience with vendors and produce excellence in banner performance.
- Ability to manage Request for Proposal (RFP) and/or Request for Information (RFI) processes efficiently and effectively during contract reviews, renewals, and execution.
- Strong ability to work with key ACE vendors to enable superior member experience, cost controls, reduced cycle time and enhance quality for our members.
- Knowledge of all relevant regulations, including the Insurance Act, pertaining to relevant processes and claims
- Strong working knowledge of all vendor management reporting systems, including Xactimate, ARMs and Audatex and/or Mitchell.
- Strong negotiation skills, utilized in effective management of vendor service, costs and experience.
- Expert knowledge of pricing norms and variables as relates to claims resolution costs.
- Strong collaborative experience with teams within the claims department, compliance, internal and external audit functions, information technology departments and related stakeholders as required.
- Proactive review of vendor performance outliers and action plans to improve performance and outcomes for the enterprise.
- Conduct quarterly reviews and partnership sessions with vendors (banner programs) to enhance our performance and outcomes for the member and enterprise.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal, expert and other vendor type billing standard and protocols, setting guidelines as necessary within our contract provisions
What you will bring:
- Completion of Post-Secondary Education
- Working towards, or completion of CIP designation, and an active pursuer of the necessary education to respond to a changing marketplace
- 5 years or progressive experience in vendor management, contract and/or procurement related role or equivalent leading key relationships in P&C insurance
- Appraisal license as an asset
- Advanced analytical and evaluative skills
- Excellent mathematical skills are required with the ability to perform and interpret complex calculations when determining benefits or assessing estimates and invoices presented
- Superior problem solving and negotiation skills are required
- Sound morals, ethic and confidentiality with ability to develop trusting and effective working relationships with employees and outside contacts
- Ability to provide coaching, mentoring, and assistance to co-workers in the department
- Strong computer literacy, proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs an internet navigation
