Claims Technical Specialist (Remote/Hybrid within the Maritimes)

Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision, the Claims Technical Specialist contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by analyzing business processes to support design and/or modification of operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the adjusting function.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform ongoing research and analysis of industry and competitive market trends to support process improvement
  • Recommend changes to documentation (business processes, user guides, and procedures) in order to facilitate user training as well as the integration of new processes within current operations
  • Liaise with the Executive Office, assisting with the development of rules, guidelines, manuals and forms
  • Coordinate and assist with development of regional communication plans related to operational processes, projects, and performance
  • Review and analyze regional claims results to ensure adherence to claims standards
  • Coordinate and provide instruction and/or training of regulatory requirements for compliance
  • Mentor and develop team members through the sharing of knowledge and best practices
  • Provide strong technical guidance and coaching on large loss files and those of high complexity;
  • Liaise with Defense Counsel and Adjusters to develop strong litigation file strategy and plans
  • Reserve stewardship & coaching
  • Attending and Facilitating Large Loss Meetings
  • Coaching adjusters through large loss forms and proper presentation skills
  • Ensuring timely review of the +/- 50K report and developing coaching strategies for Supervisors where necessary
  • Providing feedback on trends/issues identified through file involvement to Supervisors in order to assist in building coaching plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years Property and Casualty industry experience
  • Completed CIP or equivalent Property and Casualty industry designation
  • Licensed or ability to be licensed in the Maritimes.
  • Bilingualism (English & French) an asset
  • College/University degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Superior knowledge of coverage wordings, policy interpretation, case law, legislation, and insurance regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information, and to select and implement best solutions in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the audience and present information or arguments in a convincing manner
  • Good negotiation skills, with the ability to present information in a convincing manner
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to ensure group objectives are met

 

Additional Information:

  • Number of hours per week: 37.5
  • Core business hours: 8:00AM to 4:30PM AT
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, during core business hours (Atlantic Time Zone)
  • Location: Anywhere in the Maritimes (strongly preferred), Ontario and Quebec
