Property Underwriter/Farm Underwriter

We are looking for an experienced Property Underwriter or Farm Underwriter with a minimum of 3–5 years experience for our Alberta and Manitoba offices. This role can be work from home, hybrid, or in office.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the underwriting function with the company or elsewhere in the property casualty business
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to deal effectively with others in a friendly, courteous and positive manner

Essential Functions:

  • Committed to providing excellent customer service. Example: Answering calls and responding to inquiries, professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for processing policies. Example: Reviewing, evaluating, rating and processing new business, renewals, and revisions that are routine in nature for varied lines of insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communicate with brokers, adjusters and co-workers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner
  2. Process new applications, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, declines and quotes
  3. Research and determine appropriate rates, apply applicable discounts and surcharges and calculate premiums
  4. Prepare related correspondences and maintain documentation as required
  5. Adhere to company policies and procedures which may be developed and implemented from time to time
  6. Perform other duties as assigned
