Benefits Director

The “Credit Union Pension & Benefits Trust” is an umbrella organization that operates the BC Credit Union Employees’ Pension Plan and the BC Credit Union Employee Benefits Trust under a multi-employer plan environment. These plans are governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by an Executive Director.

The BC Credit Union Employee Benefits Plan offers both Traditional Benefits Plan options as well as Flex Benefits Plan options for its participating employers. This allows each participating organization to then tailor their benefits plan to meet their own needs within the choice of options that are provided under the Benefits Plan.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the newly created role of Benefits Director is responsible for managing all facets of the benefits programs provided by the Trustees of the BC Credit Union Employee Benefits Trust (‘Benefits Trust’). Working with numerous providers and carriers, the Benefits Trust operates a multi-employer benefits program for the credit union system covering over 6,000 plan members.

The role includes client management functions for approximately 30 employers that are participating under the Benefits Trust, ensuring that all benefits-related functions are carried out in accordance with the established contracts and agreements, monitoring service level agreements of the various providers, conducting claims experience analysis, reviewing and recommending changes as appropriate as they relate to the plan’s rules, underwriting arrangements, and plan design and/or coverage options. The Benefits Director works directly with the Board of Trustees and supports the Trustees through the provision of strategic, policy, and technical advice on the Benefits Trust. Additionally, the Benefits Director collaborates with the Executive Director on the development, implementation and oversight of the Trust’s operational and capital budgets.

The ideal candidate will bring exceptional skills in the areas of relationship development, communication, negotiation and collaboration. The Benefits Director will help the organization to embrace best practices and be able to influence change through a clear vision, commitment to customer service, performance management and accountability. An inspiring and energetic pensions and benefits professional with a forward-looking approach, the Director will be comfortable interacting with and being accountable to an Executive Director and Board of Trustees and will bring proven success in building effective relationships with a wide variety of interested partners, while driving value for members.
