Healthcare Collaborative Benefits (“Collaborative Benefits”) is a federally incorporated, not-for-profit entity developed by the Ontario Hospital Association (“OHA”) and HIROC Management Limited (“HML”) to support a healthcare-driven provincial benefits strategy (primarily LTD, Life, Health & Dental) for participating not-for-profit healthcare organizations in Ontario and throughout Canada.
Collaborative Benefits prioritizes employee health and wellness built on four key pillars of value: a made-for-healthcare solution, designed with healthcare organizations; improved employee experience and better health outcomes; significantly improved efficiency; improved and sustained financial outcomes. As the intermediary between healthcare organizations and insurance carriers, Collaborative Benefits will provide governance, carrier selection and oversight, ongoing strategic review of rates and renewals, and data analytics to enhance and support the delivery and design of benefit programs for participants and their employees.
To ensure the success of this critical new initiative, Healthcare Collaborative Benefits is seeking an entrepreneurial, customer service-oriented Vice President, Group Benefits Operations (“VP, Group Benefits Operations”) to lead its insurance operations. Located in Healthcare Collaborative Benefits’ office in North York, the VP, Group Benefits Operations will play an integral role implementing Collaborative Benefits’ strategic objectives in a manner that strikes the right balance of efficiency, costs, value and exceptional customer service. As the inaugural leader of Collaborative Benefits’ general insurance operations and a key part of the Collaborative Benefits Executive Leadership team, the VP, Group Benefits Operations will contribute to Collaborative Benefits’ overall strategy and growth while developing and implementing the operational plan that connects long-term vision to day-to-day accountabilities.
Trusted and inspirational, the VP, Group Benefits Operations understands Collaborative Benefits’ objectives, translates those into implementation plans, oversees all insurance operations and related hiring, establishes partnerships and negotiates agreements with insurance carriers, and develops creative and innovative solutions that establish Collaborative Benefits’ credibility and leadership. A respected insurance expert with a deep knowledge of insurance carriers, the healthcare ecosystem and its dedicated teams, the VP, Group Benefits Operations serves as a compelling advocate for this ground-breaking initiative, leveraging their wide network to build momentum and open doors for the organization. The new VP, Group Benefits Operations understands how to develop and launch new services and has a proven record of successfully developing new partnerships. The VP, Group Benefits Operations fosters an enthusiastic and customer service-focused company culture which attracts and retains the best insurance carriers and team members for the long term.
The incoming VP, Group Benefits Operations will have 10+ years’ leadership experience in innovative design and management of large group benefits plans (LTD, Life, Health & Dental) within the insurance underwriting and/or consulting environment. Experience working within the healthcare sector on benefits plans, with multi-employer/union environments, developing and delivering new programs, knowledge of public sector procurement and the regulatory requirements specific to health benefits, are all valuable assets. The successful candidate will either be a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Life License Qualification Program (LLQP), and/or a licensed insurance agent registered with the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) for group benefits programs. The successful candidate may have a university or college degree in either business administration, financial services, mathematics, actuarial science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
