Claims Specialist (CIP Qualified) - Based in Calgary or Toronto

Accountancy Insurance was established in 2003 to work exclusively with public practice accounting firms specialising in Audit Shield – a comprehensive tax audit insurance product which covers the professional fees incurred as a result of an official audit, enquiry, investigation or review instigated by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and other federal, state and territory based agencies.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Head of Claims - Canada, the main functions of this role are assisting with:

  • Day-to-day claims management
  • Investigate and negotiate claims in accordance with the company's best practices and handling procedures
  • Responsible for the issuance of payments to clients.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of data captured in the various systems
  • Review and compile facts and technical reports
  • Analyze estimates, value of claims, negotiate, and settle claims accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with various agreements, local regulations and licensing regulations
  • Effectively advise and counsel clients on claim status while providing prompt and exemplary customer service
  • Ensure all correspondence is completed in a time efficient manner.
  • Responsible for recognizing questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities.

You will have the ability to deliver an outstanding level of customer service to an established and varied client base of accounting practices and sole practitioners across Canada. Maintaining an awareness of legislative and tax changes for Canada with an understanding of how these may effect policy definitions will also be expected.

To be considered for this unique opportunity you:

  • Hold of a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP or Fellowship Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP). Regional licensing requirements are necessary for this role 
  • Are a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen as this is a permanent full time position.
  • Superior technical claims handling
  • Exceptional communication skills – ability to communicate diplomatically and empathetically
