Member Representative and Broker

The MIABC is looking for an energetic, motivated, and career-minded insurance professional to provide professional and technical service to our local government members. The MIABC is a member-owned, non-profit insurance reciprocal that provides liability coverage to over 165 local governments in British Columbia and property and ancillary coverage to over half of our members.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing quotes to members and potential members on their liability, property, and ancillary insurance needs;
  • Underwriting property coverage and marketing ancillary coverage;
  • Answering queries on coverage needs and policy wording;
  • Assisting in the preparation of RFPs and developing new insurance products;
  • Preparing binders and binding coverage for new and renewal policies; and
  • Working with our Claims team to ensure the progress of property claims and to provide updates to our members.

 

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 5 to 7 years of commercial insurance experience;
  • Level 2 Insurance License;
  • Broad knowledge of insurance for local governments;
  • An insurance designation (CAIB, CIP, or CRM);
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Analytical skills; and
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
