General Accountability

Investigates, evaluates, and negotiates accident claims (both tort and no fault) for or against the TTC/TTC Insurance Company Limited/Toronto Coach Terminal or their employees. The role provides support services to the Section in the preparation of material for pending litigation, arbitration hearings and adjudication tribunals.

Key Job Functions

  • Conduct interviews, visit accident scenes, and obtain information to assist in the investigation process.
  • Evaluate and negotiate accident claims through reviewing evidence, establishing value of claims, and attending discoveries/mediations/hearings, etc., as required.
  • Prepare and maintain various types of reports, ensure adequate reserves, and ensure relevant regulatory requirements and legislation are adhered to.
  • Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

Education and Experience

Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.

 A minimum of 5 years’ experience of accident benefits claims handling experience for this position
