About the Team:

Our team has extensive knowledge of the local market and works closely with clients to provide tailored insurance solutions. The team is made up of professionals with financial and underwriting expertise and a wealth of experience in the Executive Risks insurance sector. Together with our teams in Zurich, Singapore and Toronto, we ensure that our clients can access our global network of experts when required.

About the Role:

We are looking for a pro-active, highly motivated and result oriented Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join the Executive Risks team within Corporate Solutions.

This is an underwriting position for someone with broad experience and established broker connections in the Canadian public and private company D&O market. The core focus is on contributing to the results-oriented underwriting of Directors and Officers Liability transactions as a (primary and excess) direct insurer and to substantially grow the Canadian public company D&O book of business.

Your main tasks will be generating new business opportunities by leveraging broker contacts, analyzing and assessing the technical insurability in respect of exposures and coverages, reviewing cover structures, wordings and proposals and preparing quotations. You will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the client’s requirements and expectations and to participate in discussions and negotiations with Brokers, existing and new Clients.

Furthermore, you may contribute to project work, work in international deal teams, training junior underwriters and accept special assignments as required.

About You:

  • Successful completion of a university degree or equivalent, with a major in finance, business and/or economics considered a strong asset
  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant underwriting experience in the Canadian market for Underwriter; 3+ years for Senior Underwriter
  • Network of Canadian D&O brokers and clients (preferred)
  • Technical underwriting background, including a strong ability to analyze financial statements
  • Bilingual in English and French considered a strong asset
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Good negotiation and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Team player, open-minded
  • Strong IT skills, including high comfort level using Microsoft excel, word and power point
  • Willingness to travel
