Email Marketing Specialist

Department:      Marketing & Communications

Reports to:        Manager, Digital Marketing

Job Summary:  The role operates on a national level, in a demanding environment, within a leading-edge team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end email marketing activities including, but not limited to: email creation, copy writing, determining and building target audience lists, campaign set-up and planning, measuring and reporting. Additionally, the role serves as support to social media initiatives, and trade show facilitation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

Email Marketing (80%)

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of all email marketing activities including, but not limited to, email design & set up, testing, deployment, and scheduling
  • Build and maintain mailing lists as per campaign requirements
  • Write and edit email copy ensuring messaging is consistent with the brand
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to optimize the demand generation and lead nurturing strategy
  • Monitor and analyze email performance and generate reports, recommendations, and provide insight
  • Assist in the development of the national email calendar
  • Serve as the in-house expert in email and privacy standards (CASL, GDPR, PIPEDA, CAN-SPAM)
  • Manage cross functional email requests from various departments on an as needed basis

Social Media (10%)

  • Support the Digital Marketing & Communications officer to feed content on social channels using Sprout Social and native platforms
  • Collaborate with the team on paid social efforts and lead generation campaigns
  • Facilitate the response to customer questions from social networks by working with internal resources
  • Stay current with the latest in social media trends, best practices and platform API changes

Departmental (10%)

  • Support IIC promotional items program
  • Support ad re-imbursement program
  • Set up and analyze occasional survey monkey questionnaires

ESSENTIALS SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires at least 3-5 years of experience in email marketing
  • Strong knowledge of email marketing best practices
  • Experience working with HTML/CSS
  • Excellent copywriting and copyediting abilities
  • Experience using enterprise level CRM, ERP, CMS, ECM systems
  • Experience in planning and managing email marketing calendar
  • Demonstrated experience executing demand generation and lead nurturing campaigns
  • Bachelor's degree and/or College Diploma in business, marketing, or communications
  • Self-directed, but also a strong team player, with excellent collaborative and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Willingness to learn and have a passion for marketing
  • Flexible and adaptable with a good sense of humour
