Underwriting Assistant Personal Lines

SGI CANADA is aiming to be an agile organization that has clear and transparent communication paired with effective collaboration and accountability throughout the organization. We work with over 500 brokers from Ontario to British Columbia and sell a range of products. Developing our leaders will transform how we work with customers, partners and each other.

If you join our team, you’ll be working with over 2,000 colleagues to help us continue to grow, innovate and transform the industry. We’re a well-established insurance carrier that has a lot to offer its employees including some pretty great benefits, a flex spending account, scheduled days off, training, continuous professional development, career advancement opportunities and valuable work life balance (just to name a few).

We are looking for our next Underwriting Assistant (Personal Lines) located at our Etobicoke office. We are looking for someone who not only provides administrative support to our Personal Lines underwriting team but would also process policies and determine insurability for routine renewals, revisions and new business applications. If you have demonstrated an interest in the insurance industry, you may just be what we are looking for.

Requirements

Candidates must bring the education and experience to succeed in this unique opportunity — after all, we’re counting on you.  We are looking for candidates who have a one-year certificate in a relevant field of study such as Business or Office Administration, completion of one Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) class and two-years’ experience in an insurance office. Alternative combinations of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
