Insurance Resource Officer

The Ontario Mutual Insurance Association (OMIA) is searching for an experienced Insurance Resource Officer for a 9-month contract.

Description

In this role, you will work on developing and maintaining insurance coverage documents, related support forms, and accompanying risk selection guidelines for use by OMIA member companies with a focus on commercial, including agriculturally based, exposures.

You will conduct market research, analyze mutual insurance company risk appetite needs and gaps, develop recommended solutions with multidisciplinary stakeholders, and complete documentation and materials required for implementation by member companies. You will work closely with the Manager of Insurance Services on maintaining and documenting forms and wordings, publishing and reporting on project work, and providing technical and practical advice to member companies and colleagues.

You will work with a broad range of insurance professionals including underwriters, marketers, claims professionals, loss prevention officers, distributors, and programmers. This is a versatile role where your experience and problem-solving skills will be put to good use.

Work Experience

  • You have ten years’ experience in a property casualty insurance role with a focus on underwriting, including constructing commercial coverage and risk selection guidelines.
  • Auto insurance experience is not essential but would be beneficial.

Education

In considering candidates, the following educational background or equivalent employment experience will be of benefit:

  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) (or working towards it)

Environment and Travel*

Some travel may be required (up to 5 days annually). Occasional overnight travel may be beneficial in the role.  

Under normal conditions you would join our team of 26 firm believers in mutual insurance at our modern Leeds-certified office located close to the 401 in Cambridge. *At present, given the pandemic environment, almost all OMIA staff are working from home and this will continue well into 2021. A flexible work from home arrangement will be extended to you in this role.
