The Opportunity

As Claims Examiner you will be responsible to:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and settle claims in a fair manner
  • Apply your technical knowledge and human relations skills to all claims
  • Resolve claims handled both directly by you or by an external independent adjusting partner using high service-oriented file handling
  • Maintain concise file documentation consistent with corporate policies
  • Adjust reserves to ensure that reserve activities are consistent with corporate policies
  • Pay and process claims within designated authority level
  • Provide overall portfolio management of assigned claims files
  • Develop action plans and report claim progression on a regular basis
  • Verify and analyze data used in settling claims to ensure that claims are valid and that settlements are made according to company practices and procedures
  • Present cases and participate in discussions at various committee meetings
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to peers
  • Report directly to the Vice President of Claims

 

Here’s what you bring:

  • 5 plus years related experience and training in Property claims handling
  • 2 plus years related experience and training in Liability claims handling
  • CIP designation or in latter stage of completion
  • Analytical outlook with exceptional problem-solving ability
  • Team oriented, and willing to mentor and participate in training and claims discussions
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and maintain confidentiality
  • High level of customer service with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong team player with excellent time management skills
  • Possess a functional and developing knowledge of the legal statutes and procedures
