Commercial Insurance Underwriter

We currently have an opening for a talented, experienced Commercial Underwriter (Property) to join our team. In this role, you would be accountable for high quality underwriting of property/liability accounts in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and your level of underwriting authority as assigned.

Reporting to the Commercial Underwriting Manager, you will provide superior service contributing to the achievement of profitability and production goals of the department by assessing, accepting and declining new business and renewals.  You go the extra mile to exceed customers’ expectations while representing our brand with passion and pride.

• Deliver exceptional customer service to our broker partners
• Maintain high levels of productivity
• Negotiate mutually acceptable solutions to underwriting proposals with brokers

• Ensure quality underwriting standards are met

What You Bring to This Role

• 1-3 years of commercial property and casualty experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience is preferred but willing to review junior applicants preferably college graduates from the Insurance Program with a keen interest in learning commercial insurance
• Knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines
• Completed or working toward CIP designation
• Superior customer service and negotiation skills
• You can weigh many complex factors to ultimately make quick decisions and explain your rationale
• Excellent verbal and written communication skill
• You are professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers
• You perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure
• You are a team player who makes work fun for those working around you.
