Our company has had an amazing journey so far, and our future is full of new possibilities!</p> <p><strong>Position Summary:</strong></p> <p>The Commercial Insurance Sales Agent will participate in all company sponsored training programs to gain the level of knowledge required to successfully perform the duties of a Commercial Insurance Specialist. This role is salary plus commission to start.</p> <p>He/she will uses all available time and resources for his/her self-development in the areas of product knowledge, communication skills, and sales techniques to prepare for future field assignments. The CIS strives to develop new prospect and client relationships. Furthermore, works to create opportunities and sales growth within our newest class of business, restaurants and eateries.</p> <p><strong> <strong>What you will be doing:</strong></strong></p> <p>Formal training.</p> <ul> <li>Must obtain the appropriate license(s) required in the CIS’s respective province within 6 months of hiring date.</li> <li>Attends formal classroom session covering Personal auto, Homeowners, Commercial Property and Liability, and Life Insurance.</li> <li>Actively participates in other activities or programs recommended by Federated to raise his/her level of competence, maturity, and effectiveness as a CIS.</li> <li>Establishes and maintains good working relations with other company personnel to facilitate achievement of learning objectives of this position.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Pass all required testing to become a licensed agent for Federated which will assist in learning and possible future assignment as a servicing representative in an open territory.</li> <li>Obtains the mandatory continuing education credit hours required to renew all licenses held by the CIS during the current license period.<br /> </li> </ul> <p>Programming techniques<strong>.</strong></p> <ul> <li>This phase concentrates on programming techniques and coverage for all types of businesses including the ability to properly identify risk and accurately set up a comparative analysis.</li> <li>Develops and keeps current selling skills.</li> <li>Maintains an adequate amount of knowledge regarding competitors in the market place by completion of audits on competition’s policies. Keeps abreast of current events through various industry magazines and web pages.</li> <li>Works with other Commercial Insurance Specialists, when possible, in completion of comparative analysis to determine best method of programming and pricing for specific accounts.<br /> </li> </ul> <p>On the job training.</p> <ul> <li>Upon completion of formal training, begins on-the-job training concentrating on Federated’s products, risk identification, programming methods, and marketing philosophy.</li> <li>Acquires and maintains a good working knowledge of underwriting principles, company policies, and marketing concepts.</li> <li>Participates in the completion of Market Surveys for designated geographical areas as assigned by the District Sales Manager.</li> <li>Completes all necessary assignments and projects and participates in discussions to further his/her development.</li> <li>Possibly be assigned to an open territory to provide service to insureds and potential new customers. This will enable the trainee to learn and demonstrate those skills acquired thus far.</li> <li>Develop a list of business prospects and enhance relationships to work towards future new business and sales opportunities.<br /> </li> </ul> <p>Advanced assignments and feedback.</p> <ul> <li>Provides feedback to District Sales Manager (DSM) as to the progress and keep him/her informed as to areas where he/she feels continued study or practice is needed.</li> <li>When a territory is assigned spends time as directed by the DSM working with the Field Risk Analyst and/or the Senior Risk Analyst assigned to the territory.</li> <li>Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned for further development within the program.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What we are looking for:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.</li> <li>Obtains a favourable overall assessment from the Prevue Assessment evaluation.</li> <li>Acceptable Motor Vehicle Abstract.</li> <li>Above average comprehension and oral communication skills.</li> <li>Demonstrated organizational ability and mathematical aptitude.</li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Sincere desire to believe in, sell, and service our products.</li> <li>Working knowledge of personal computers.</li> </ul> <p><strong>What sets you apart:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Previous sales/customer service experience or experience in an equivalent position dealing with interpersonal relationships.</li> <li>Demonstrates an above average level of leadership, professionalism and personal integrity.</li> <li>Actively participates in industry and sales training as prescribed by the company.</li> <li>Utilizes Federated’s current product and skills training materials to enhance self-development and product knowledge.</li> </ul>
