Manager, Underwriting and Accounts

As the Manager of Underwriting and Accounts you will lead a team in the execution of the strategic vision for servicing the client relationship and focus on underwriting, pricing, rate and product strategies. You will deliver expected levels of profit and revenue while managing positive performance, profitable underwriting, delivery of accounts and risk control.

 

What you’re responsible for:

  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients to deliver technical underwriting and account support and developing customized, client focused renewal, insurance and risk management proposals.

  • Implementing underwriting strategies and operational guidelines, including providing input into the management of major losses, monitoring risk and control criteria and ensuring account-level rating or coverage decisions support underwriting philosophy and financial objectives.

  • Developing value-added material to support our role as a trusted technical advisor to the credit union system, including self-assessment and loss control tools, coverage bulletins and plain language coverage information.

  • Supporting the development of strategic plans and operational efficiencies, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and policies.

  • Coaching and developing your team, recruiting and selecting talent, managing and rewarding performance, and fostering an agile culture to deliver on strategic objectives.  

 

What to expect:

  • You will travel frequently. 

  • This role involves direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.

To join our team:

  • You have seven years of underwriting experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, including people leadership experience.

  • You have a post-secondary degree in Business, Commerce or a related discipline.

  • You have a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and a Level 2 Agents License for Property and Casualty with the Insurance Council of British Columbia.
