If you seek a career with growth and challenge, where quality and accountability work in tandem with integrity and a responsiveness to change, we welcome you to learn more about us.</p> <p><strong>Supervisor, Risk &amp; Loss Control &ndash; Job ID 11401</strong></p> <p>Reporting to the Risk and Insurance Manager,</p> <p>The incumbent will:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Risk Management department with analysis and integration of Loss Control, Corporate Insurance and Risk Management Programs for the Region of Durham and the Durham Municipal Insurance Pool (DMIP)</li> <li>Develop, coordinate and conduct risk training programs for employees of the Region and the DMIP</li> <li>Conduct special and periodic reviews of the Region of Durham and the DMIP members operations, activities and processes to identify and resolve potential liability exposures</li> <li>Perform risk inspections, prepare reports of findings and make appropriate risk analysis recommendations</li> <li>Provide technical risk consultative assistance by reviewing plans, insurance specifications, contracts and policies to ensure they meet applicable legislation, rules and operating standards</li> <li>Respond to inquiries and provide technical advice, guidance and direction to Regional employees, DMIP members and external consultants</li> <li>Design and implement plans for loss prevention when trends are detected</li> <li>Assist in the development and presentation of seminars and workshops for the Region and DMIP member municipalities</li> <li>Participate and assist in the Enterprise Risk Management program including the development and maintenance of the Region&#39;s Business Continuity program</li> <li>Develop and implement policies, programs and procedures designed to safeguard property assets</li> </ul> <p>The successful applicant will possess:</p> <ul> <li>A University Degree in Business Administration or Commerce or a related discipline, with major course work in Risk Management, Insurance, Industrial Safety and Industrial Engineering</li> <li>Completion of the Chartered Insurance Professional of Canada (CIP)</li> <li>A Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation would be an asset</li> <li>Completion of the Certified Risk Management (CRM) designation would be an asset</li> <li>Several years of supervisory experience in planning and administering a comprehensive Insurance and Risk Management Program for large multi-divisional organizations, preferably in a municipal environment</li> <li>Fundamental knowledge of fire and life safety, including the Ontario Fire Code and the Ontario Building Code</li> <li>Effective leadership skills, organization and project management skills</li> <li>Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Strong presentation and training skills</li> <li>Strong analytical, interpretation and problem solving skills</li> <li>Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills</li> </ul> <p>Salary: $88,466 to $110,582 per annum</p> <p><strong>To learn more about this opportunity, please visit our website at </strong><a href="http://www.durham.ca/"><strong>www.durham.ca</strong></a><strong> and apply online directly to Job ID# 11401 no later than March 14, 2019.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><em>We thank all applicants; however, only those to be considered for an interview will be contacted. </em></p>
