This regulation is designed to protect the public against the insolvency of financial institutions, prevent improper market conduct in the financial services and real estate sectors, provide deposit insurance for members of B.C. credit unions and ensure the solvency of pension funds. FICOM&rsquo;s Insurance and Trusts team undertakes the prudential regulation of BC insurance and trust companies.&nbsp;The legislation, regulatory guidelines, and supervisory framework that the team administers are designed to protect policy holders and trust beneficiaries against insolvency of an insurance or trust company.<br /> <br /> The Executive Director, Insurance and Trusts, leads the team in the execution of its mandate, protects the public by setting regulatory standards and influencing industry behaviour, and builds relationships with stakeholders that establish confidence in the regulator. The position leads the delivery of authoritative internal advice to the Financial Institutions Commission, Superintendent, and Deputy Superintendent, and authoritative external advice to stakeholders including Government and industry.
