<p><p><strong>Position: Officer, Insurance Services</strong></p> <p>Competition Number: 2018-EX-EN-52314222-01<br /> Competition posting date: 2018-11-06<br /> Competition closing date: 2018-11-21</p> <p>Office of the City Clerk and Solicitor, Legal Services, Legal Operations &amp; Support Services Branch<br /> 1 Full-time Continuous Position - 35 hours/week<br /> Affiliation: CIPP<br /> Salary: $69,556.76 to $84,633.64 annually (2018 rates of pay)<br /> <br /> Location: City Hall,110 Laurier Avenue West<br /> <br /> Category: Current Opportunities<br /> Employment Group: Administrative/Customer Service</p> <p><strong><em>Job Summary</em></strong></p> <p>As the subject matter expert, the Officer, Insurance Services provides advice and information to elected officials, City staff, insurance brokers, community associations and partners, and representatives of business improvement initiatives/organizations with respect to the City&#39;s insurance requirements, policies, terms and conditions of the Integrated Risk Program. Responsible for fulfillment of the insurance function including working collaboratively with the City&#39;s broker by delivering quality service, controlling contract administration for insurance and indemnification requirements, verifying that contracts are current, complete, and accurate and have adequate insurance, and developing insurance-related procedures.</p> <p><strong><em>Education &amp; Experience</em></strong></p> <p>Three (3) year degree in Business or a related discipline</p> <p>Minimum of five (5) years progressively responsible insurance experience within a municipal or corporate environment</p> <p>*Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.</p> <p><strong><em>Language, Certificates &amp; Licenses</em></strong></p> <p>Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada (AIIC) OR Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)</p> <p>English oral, reading, writing required</p> <p><strong><em>Knowledge</em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Insurance acquisition, including brokerage, market conditions, trends and pricing, and risk financing techniques</li> <li>Insurance broker services procurement preparation and process</li> <li>Contract administration specifically in the areas of insurance, indemnification and risk transfer</li> <li>Insurance law, contract law</li> <li>Transit insurance administration practices</li> <li>Research concerning statistical and financial industry information including the identification of trends and report writing</li> <li>Risk management best practices, mitigation strategies, and information systems</li> </ul> <p><strong><em>Competencies &amp; Skills</em></strong></p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication skills, both written and oral</li> <li>Ability to work both independently or as a member of a team</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving skills</li> <li>Proven analytical skills and abilities</li> <li>Conflict resolution skills</li> <li>Tact and diplomacy</li> </ul> <p>Applications <u>must</u> be submitted through the City of Ottawa website in order to be considered:&nbsp; <a href="https://ottawa.ca/cgi-bin/jobs.pl?id=2018-EX-EN-52314222-01">https://ottawa.ca/cgi-bin/jobs.pl?id=2018-EX-EN-52314222-01</a></p> <p>&nbsp;</p></p>
