Country Insurance Manager

We are looking to hire a Country Insurance Manager to manage and administer shippers interest claims filed For Canada. Provide technical expertise and advice related to incidents, insurance, claims matters and loss prevention initiatives for the above mentioned shippers interest. Obtain the best possible claims settlement for the Group as speedily as possible. Carry out dedicated insurance-related assignment within corporate insurance management. Liaise with the company and insurance broker for company related policies. Train the insurance segment to Sales Representatives. Manage contract database and legal formalities for Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document factual background of shippers interest claims matters; establish and update claims file

• Safeguard rights of recovery

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as local and foreign Panalpina staff, claimants, recovery agents, third party claims administrators, surveyors, loss adjustors and insurance carriers

• Enter and update claims data in on-line claims data base according to corporate instructions

• Manage and settle claims matters in accordance with corporate instructions

• Provide first-tier advice and support to Panalpina staff related to any claim matter

-Administration of all incidents and claims for management area, in the absence of the Claims Manager

• Ensure that Canadian policies are kept current and submit Country Insurance Portfolio Form (PAC-FOR-191) to PAC on a regular basis

• Complete PAC-FOR-189 Property Damage Value Declaration (PD/BI/EE) Form and submit to PAC on regular basis

• Manage and Administer cargo insurance coverage in respective management area

• Coordinate and liaise with insurance brokers and insurance carriers;

• Report monthly cargo insurance activities within a respective management area

• Report cargo insurance profits on a monthly basis

• Enter and update claims data in on-line claims database in according to corporate instructions

• Provide advice/support and train Panalpina staff for insurance matters

• Review and advise on insurance clauses within RFQs and contracts

• Maintain Board Resolutions and Minutes

• Ensure that any changes in Directors are timely reflected in the Corporate Resolutions

• Ensure that Corporate Filings be kept up to date, for all inter-provincial offices

• Maintain database of Canadian Contracts (except trucker information)

• Ensure that contracts are kept in fire-proof locked location

• Update cheque-signing authorities and notify bank of changes to the signatories

• Control, and coordinate all related Health, Safety and Environmental control and procedures for the Business Unit.

• Perform assigned tasks to support Panalpina meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment as documented in IMS and follow all requirements as set out in the QHSE policy

• It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that their day to day activities embrace sustainability/Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace

• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience

• Insurance Brokerage license, an asset

• Relative working experience in the insurance or related service industry (e.g. insurance broker, loss adjustor, recovery agent, (paralegal etc.);

• 3 years of claims handling experience in the logistics and transportation industry (including marine insurance, Commercial General Liability (CGL), property and employer’s liability
